Nicholas “Nick” Rudolph Dehmer, age 41, dear and devoted son, husband, father, brother, cousin and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 9, 2018. He was born January 30, 1977 in Coon Rapids, the son of John and Julie (Setzler) Dehmer.
Nick was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. He was a 1995 graduate of St. Michael-Albertville High School where he excelled in wrestling. Nick began his woodworking skills during high school. He currently was employed with Commercial Door Systems in Hamel, where he was supervisor of the wood shop. He was very loved and respected at work and was very detailed in everything he made. Nick was the most talented carpenter any of us knew, and the most skilled morel mushroom hunter anyone ever knew.
Nick Dehmer and Katie Grasswick were united in marriage on October 12, 2013 at Munsinger Gardens (on the anniversary of Katie’s grandparents, Carl and Theresa Grasswick).
Nick loved deer hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. He was such a proud daddy and would tell anyone who would listen about the greatness of each of his children and bonus children. He made sure his children learned the faith and spent time with them, always supporting their activities and teaching them service by always helping and making gifts for others. He was a gentle, quiet (except when talking politics!), giant of a man with broad shoulders. Nick LOVED you and you felt it when he hugged you and everyone who knew him respected him for who he was and his kindness.
Nick is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Rudy and Laura Dehmer; maternal grandparents: Bud and Mary Setzler; grandfather-in-law: Carl Grasswick; and niece: Laurencia Witschen.
Nick will be deeply loved and missed by his wife: Katie; children: Amanda, Amber, Alexis, Justus, Anika, Max, John, Charlie, Presley; parents: John and Julie Dehmer; siblings: Laura (Butch) Nielsen, Katrina (Matt) Witschen, Peter (Janel) Dehmer, Rudy (Marissa) Dehmer, Anna (Matt) Mrdutt; father-in-law: Perry Fosse; mother-in-law: Tammy Miller; grandmother-in-law: Theresa Grasswick; 27 nieces and nephews; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins (who were more like brothers and sisters), and friends.
Pray for mercy. Pray for the repose of the soul of Nick and all of the faithfully departed. Blessed be his memory.
