A fighter, a coach and a teacher – all contributors to the St. Michael-Albertville community – all left us suddenly last month.
Desiree Tresbach, a wife and mother of two boys from Albertville, lost her long fight with cancer on Dec. 20, 2017. She was just 38 years old. A memorial service was held in Rogers last weekend, and her graveside service will be at a later date in Wisconsin, where her mother and late father reside/rest.
Richard C. Kong, a coach and supporter of St. Michael-Albertville hockey, just 47, of St. Michael passed away on Tuesday December 26, 2017.
Services were held this week at St. Michael Catholic Church. A fund for his son, Henry, and wife, Jill is set up at Bremer Bank in Watertown, Minnesota.
“His smile and helpful attitude will be missed greatly around the rink,” said Josh Opiola, STMA Hockey president. The hockey club posted a sign in a locker room at STMA Arena in Richard’s honor.
And longtime teacher and coach Gary Walter, an STMA Middle School and high school legend, died suddenly on Christmas Day. He was 78 years old. A celebration of life will be held later this month at the St. Michael American Legion.
