St. Michael-Albertville girls basketball, ranked 5th in Minnesota Class 4A, is inviting everyone join them Friday, Jan. 26 for our 8th annual Cancer Awareness Basketball game when the Knights host the Buffalo Bison.
“This is a boys girls double-header so it’s going to be a night filled with great basketball,” said coach Kent Hamre, head of the varsity girls team.
Fudraising efforts will benefit Chris Braun and her family, as Chris mounts her final fight vs. cancer. Chris and her husband, Eric, have three children in the STMA Schools – Tyler, a junior, Kaitlyn, a freshman, and Nikki, a seventh-grader at Middle West.
Kaitlyn and Nikki are both part of the girls’ basketball program, Hamre said, and all of them are very active in the boys’ and girls’ travel soccer programs at STMA United.
Hamre said both teams will also be recognizing Mark Frank, who passed away from cancer in December.
“Mark and Alice Frank have always been great supporters of our cancer awareness games and Mark was a close friend,” Hamre said. “The Franks have done many things for this community and Mark always made it a point to help out with our cancer awareness night.”
