Homeroom teachers at St. Michael-Albertville High School are always on the lookout for exceptional eleventh-grade students to recommend for STMA’s Rotary Student of the Month program. Local Rotarians select students each month of the school year who embody their motto of “service above self,” with the focus on students in their junior year so the honor can be included in college applications.
For October, the local Rotary club has given this distinction to Marley Anderson, Keeley Gelling and Valerie Noel.

Valerie Noel
Valerie is the daughter of Greg and Margie Noel. She is a member of the cross country and track teams and is also active in the National Honor Society, FCA, Breakfast Club, and the Core Team at her church. Valerie was the team captain of the B-Squad and JV II Soccer team. She has been on the A honor roll every year of school, received the Courtesy and Respect award and the Knights Award in Soccer and Basketball. After high school, Valerie plans to attend a large Midwestern university and study health care.

Keeley Gelling
Keeley is the daughter of Kimberly and Joshua Gelling. Keeley is a member of the St. Michael High School marching band and is a member of the girls’ tennis team. She is also active in Freshman Connections, a mentoring program at the high school.

Marley Anderson
Marley is the daughter of Bridget and Joe Anderson of St. Michael. She is a member of Knights Swim and Dive team. Marely also participates in student council, math league, choir, band and Business Professionals of America (BPA.) Marley has received a letter in academics for Math League, Choir and BPA. She attended the State and Nationals for BPA. Marley is a board member for Student Council, BPA and band. Marley would like to major in math in college and is considering becoming a math teacher.
“Rotary is very proud to recognize Valerie, Keeley and Marley as students of the month,” said Christine Konz, STMA Rotary Club President. “They have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and athletics and represent the ‘service above self’ ideals of Rotary. We wish them a successful future.”
