Monticello Man Killed When Truck Strikes Semi

October 13, 2017 By Mike Schoemer

A 67-year-old Monticello man was killed in an early Wednesday morning crash on a Wright County highway.

The multiple vehicle crash occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12.

According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office:

On 10/12/17 at approximately 5:25 AM the Wright County Communications Center received a report of a two-vehicle crash in the 7000 block of County Road 39 NE in Monticello Township.

A driver of a semi-tractor with an attached trailer reported they were backing out of a residential driveway onto County Road 39 NE when the trailer was struck by an eastbound Ford F-150.

Prior to any emergency vehicles arriving on scene the trailer was struck by a second eastbound vehicle.

The driver of the Ford F-150, Robert Olson, 67, of Monticello, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The second vehicle that struck the trailer sustained moderate damage, but the driver was un-injured. The driver of the semi-tractor was transported to Monticello Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol Commercial Vehicle Inspector.
