St. Michael Junior Royalty Helps Pack Emergency Food Boxes for Wright County Community Action’s Newest Food Security Program

June 27, 2017 By aboddie

Wright County Community Action is a non-profit organization working in partnership with the community to enrich lives by improving the physical, social and economic well being of our residents.

Last week, the Junior Miss St. Michael recipients assisted in packing the 45 boxes of food to help kick off the newest project to help relieve hunger in Wright County. The young ladies completed the task in a 40 minute time span, when it was gauged to take 2 hours. They packed food items that will go to those in desperate need, due to emergency situations.

WCCA has recently expanded it’s food security program and is ready to launch their newest program, the Wright County Emergency Food Box Network. This network is meant to serve as a food resource for those in crisis situations that may not have access to their local food shelf at their time of need. The emergency food boxes will be delivered to community partners throughout the county this upcoming week and distributed upon partners’ discretion to families/individuals believed to be in need of an emergency food supply. Each food box contains 30 pounds of food, meant to sustain a family of 4 for a 4 day period of time.

WCCA hopes to assist in the hunger relief efforts needed during those unexpected circumstances, like total loss fires or situations where children are at risk of going hungry due to no fault of their own.

If you would like to donate to the cause, would like more information on how you can get involved with assisting in packing food boxes or volunteering with Wright County Community Action, or would like to be a host site for an Emergency Food Box, please contact Alivia, at volunteers@wccaweb.com or call her directly at, 320-963-6500 ext 241 for more info.
