The City of Albertville and Burlington Northern/Sante Fe are announcing a major road closure in the community as work moves ahead on a new crossing along Main Avenue near Albertville City Hall.
Beginning tomorrow, May 10th, Main Avenue will be closed from 58th Street Northeast to 59th Street northeast for the reconstruction of the railroad crossing. Crews will remove the current rail and ties and replace with a concrete system – much to the delight of drivers (such as me!) who use the crossing daily.
There will be access to local businesses, including the 152 Club and Albertville Auto Body, from the north and south on Main Ave Northeast, but there will be no crossing available at the railroad.
The railroad is reconstructing the crossing and the city will be working on roadway and sidewalk improvements.
The road closure is expected to last until the end of May.
