Following interviews of six candidates Feb. 7 and 8, the ISD 728 School Board has selected three finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

The finalists will be placed into an interview process that will include meetings with board members, staff, students and community members next week.

  • Dr. Michael S. Funk – Superintendent, Albert Lea Area Schools – Monday, February 13
  • Mr. William L. Gronseth – Superintendent, Duluth Public Schools – Wednesday, February 15
  • Dr. Daniel T. Bittman – Superintendent, Sauk Rapids-Rice School District – Thursday, February 16

The superintendent of schools position opened last June with the retirement of Dr. Mark Bezek. Bruce Watkins has been serving as the interim superintendent of ISD 728. He will complete his services June 30, 2017.

ISD 728 is working with School Exec Connect of the Twin Cities to find its next superintendent.
