Snow, Ice Cause Pile-Up, Interstate 94 Shut Down at Monticello

January 10, 2017 By Mike Schoemer

UPDATE (12:45 p.m.) Interstate 94 is now re-opened on the eastbound side, with one lane getting by in some areas. Please give yourself extra time and you caution as conditions are still tough going.

ORIGINAL

Winter has made its messy return to Wright County, and now Interstate 94 has been victimized by the ice and snow that has wreaked havoc on commuters across the state.

Eastbound Interstate 94 has been shut down west of Monticello – with State Patrol guiding drivers off the freeway at the County Road 18 exit in Monticello now – after a semi jackknifed, causing a multiple car crash, around noon Tuesday, Jan. 10.

It’s unknown at this time how long it will take to untangle the mess. Stay tuned to North Wright County Today for an update.
