From rescuing victims of vehicle accidents to the more “traditional” role of knocking down structure fires, St. Michael firefighters are called on regularly to protect and serve the residents of our local community.
Saturday, you can take the opportunity to meet, greet and thank the men who serve the St. Michael Fire Department as the station will be open for the annual Open House, set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 1.
The day usually features some refreshments, demonstrations, a look inside all of the fire and rescue vehicles and a tour of the station. Mostly, it’s an opportunity for the community to show its appreciation, while the SMFD uses the day to remind everyone about steps they can take at home and at work to promote fire safety.
SMFD and AFD firefighters will be visiting local schools throughout the week next week, as October is Fire Prevention Month. Check out SMFD.org for more information about your local department and their community involvement.
