Longterm St. Michael resident Kevin Kasel announced his mayoral campaign early this week in St. Michael. Kasel and his family have lived in St. Michael for the past fourteen years and many within the community will remember that he served on City Council for eight years before seeking a GOP seat in the House of Representatives in 2014.
In addition to his years on council, Kasel has been active with the Lions, Scouts and the baseball association.
While on City Council, Kasel was a go-to resource on all budget and fiscal discussions. He also led efforts to reduce staffing during the housing recession in 2007.
Kasel explained that he’s been encouraged by friends and family to run and with their support hopes to become the next mayor of St. Michael.
As a strict fiscal conservative Kasel’s top priority if elected as mayor would be controlling city spending so that the city can keep taxes low and attract both businesses and residents.
