The St. Michael Albertville Rotary Club has announced the inaugural STMA Rotary Beer Fun Run on September 24th. The family friendly event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lower Rec Center in St. Michael.
The goal of the event is simple, explained organizer and Rotary member Christine Konz, create a family friendly community event that helps raise funds and awareness for STMA Rotary.
Rotary is a non-profit organization whose motto says it all, “Service above self”. The group’s desire is to better the STMA community as well as address the worldwide challenges of disease, literacy, starvation and clean water. Local projects have included “Beds for Kids” which provided over 100 beds to kids in Wright County, college scholarships, class trips, educational mentoring, adopt a highway and little libraries. The group also hosts the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration in St. Michael each winter.
The September 24 event is aimed at the entire family. With a beer run 5K aimed at adults, there will be also be kids root beer fun run, food trucks, games and prizes. The first 150 registered for the event will receive a swag bag and all those registered by Sept. 1 will receive a t-shirt, even kids.
“We really want people to come out and have a good time as a family and make it an annual tradition,” Konz explained.
