The path is being cleared, so to speak, for Albertville’s first Taco Bell.
Crews took a backhoe to the former car wash at DJ’s Ace Hardware in Albertville, opening space for the fast food restaurant, the first of the chain’s location in either Albertville or St. Michael.
The construction process begins just a couple weeks after a Five Guys Burgers and Fries was opened in the Albertville Premium Outlets, another fast-food giant is making its play for a spot in the Friendly City.
Border Foods, which owns and operates Taco Bell in the Upper Midwest, is the owner of the small parcel of property in the parking lot of DJ’s Ace Hardware.
The proposal was approved by the Albertville Planning Commission at its June 14 meeting with a public hearing. A final plan was approved by the Albertville City Council on June 20.
Competitor Taco John’s opened nearby in Albertville back in late summer of 2014, just down 60th Street, in the Super America location.
El Bamba, a local, family-owned restaurant in Albertville, also offers Mexican food for delivery, take-out or in-house dining.
