It’s almost time to party, Albertville.
It’s the official start to summer celebrations this week, as Albertville Friendly City Days kicks off Wednesday with a citywide garage sale for the ages, and wraps up Sunday afternoon with the Grand Day Parade and a host of other activities.
Also coming June 8 through 12 is a full slate of entertainment for both Mom, Dad and the kids, more food than you can shake a stick at and a bunch of citywide shopping deals away from the main venue to keep everyone happy.
Back again this year the Local Craft Beer Tasting will be on Thursday night. New events in 2016 will include the 3rd Lair Skateboard Show & Demo and Scarlette Revolver with some magical entertainment. A Classic Car Show will be held again this year along with the Fire Department Open House. Bingo, REMAX Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides, Book Bingo, a Craft & Vendor Fair, and the Toddler Town will all take place on Saturday.
The week will also have live music featuring 32 Below, Tripwire, The Chad Edwards Band, Crankshaft & the Gear Grinders, Jack Knife & the Sharps, the Minnetonka Skippers, and George Jundt will play a variety of great music throughout the weekend.
For the kids there will be a Carnival, lots of shows and activities, a parade, and, of course, fireworks.
No great weekend is complete without food. There will be plenty to choose from including all that fabulous fair food and various specials from the spots on Main Avenue.

Family Activities
Midwest Rides will bring in over 30 Carnival rides and games starting Thursday afternoon. Saturday will be filled with entertainment for the including a Kiddie Parade, a Pedal Tractor Pull, Face painting, Root beer floats with the Queen candidates, a kids entertainer, and the KRWC Radio Road Show. There also will be a Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Albertville City Hall.
Sport Activities
A beanbag tournament will take place near the softball fields, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The diamonds will be packed with the 22-team Men’s Slowpitch Softball Tournament featuring some of the state’s top teams. There will also be Co-Ed, Mens, and Women’s Volleyball Tournaments featuring the areas top teams. Saturday the annual STMA Coaches’ 5K run will attract over 250 participants of all ages.
Food and Entertainment
There will be Fireworks, a Pork chop dinner and corn on the cob in the park, as well as a Spaghetti Dinner, and plenty of food stands. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening there will be live music.
Fire Department Celebrates Milestone
From 9 to noon Saturday the Albertville Fire Department will host an open house featuring their entire department on display along with plenty of activities for the whole family. Check out the Kitchen Fire Safety trailer, donate at the blood mobile, and the city’s fire station on display. Be sure to watch for the Life Link III helicopter around noon.
AFD Relief Association will be conducting a raffle during the fire department oopen house on Saturday as well, raining money for operating materials and equipment. Dozens of local businesses and families have donated prizes.
Tickets will be just two bucks a shot, and winners will be notified by email or cell phone after the drawing on Saturday. Prizes can be picked up Saturday or Sunday, prior to the parade. Some prizes will be designated for those only over 21 and will require ID on receipt.
