An update from the Minnesota Department of Transportation:
Westbound Interstate 94 at Highway 241 in St. Michael will be reduced to a single lane after 12:30 p.m. today while crews repair a segment of pavement.
Earlier today, signs of pavement failure were discovered in the left lane of I-94 within the work zone near the Highway 241 overpass. Crews have been monitoring the site, and plan to close the left lane as soon as possible to repair the road.
After the lane is closed, congestion is expected to build quickly. Motorists who travel westbound I-94 between Maple Grove and Rogers should slow down and be prepared to stop, and plan alternate routes in advance.
More information on this unplanned closure will be issued as details become available.
