Drivers who plan to travel westbound Interstate 94 between Maple Grove and St. Michael after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, will want to plan alternate routes and check 511mn.org before they hit the road.
Here’s what to expect:
• Westbound I-94 between Rogers and St. Michael will be reduced to a single lane at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
• After 10 p.m., that single lane of traffic will be detoured up and down the westbound I-94 ramps at the I-94/Highway 241 interchange in St. Michael.
• Traffic signals on Highway 241 in St. Michael will be reprogrammed to allow I-94 traffic to flow across Highway 241 as efficiently as possible. Drivers headed eastbound out of St. Michael on Wright County Highway 36 should plan for delays.
• Depending on how many people avoid travel after 8 p.m., congestion could remain heavy even after midnight.
We suggest planning alternate routes in advance, checking current congestion and traffic cams on www.511mn.org before you travel, and consider avoiding the area if possible. Potential alternate routes include U.S. Highway 10 and Minnesota Highway 55.
The closures are needed while crews resurface temporary pavement. Please consider forwarding this message to anyone who may be affected by this closure. Drivers can also follow the project on Twitter @MnDOTCentral.
