A fundraiser is set for this September for a St. Michael third grader who was tragically lost in 2014.
A bean bag tournament is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at Albertville’s Central Park.
Tyson Jerome Kinney, a third-grader at Big Woods Elementary School in St. Michael, died Thursday, Nov. 13 at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

According to the family: Toss for Tyson is a bean bag tournament and silent auction in memory of Tyson Kinney. The event is a family friendly event so that kids of all ages can participate and have fun. The bean bag tournament is for the adults but we will have many kid friendly activities on site such as games and a bounce house. Toss for Tyson is a way for us to give back to the community for their support. Proceeds will go to the Albertville Fire Department and University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital Programs and Services for Patients and Families.Tyson is survived by his dad, Brandon Kinney, of Elk River; his mother, Jessica (Vetsch) Kinney, of Albertville; a brother, Owen, 10; a sister, Maya, 1; grandparents Elizabeth Vetsch and Trent (Judy) Kinney; aunts, uncles, 18 cousins and many other family and friends.
He’s preceded in death by grandparents Dale Vetsch and Cheryll (Huggett) Lehn.
