Motorists in Wright County will encounter delays east of Montrose when a project to improve the Minnesota Highway 25/U.S. Highway 12 intersection begins Tuesday, July 7.
Motorists should plan their travel in advance, and expect the following lane and road closures:
- July 7 – 14 – U.S. Highway 12 (US 12) near Highway 25, east of Montrose, will be reduced to a single lane during non-rush hours. Flaggers will control traffic through the work zone while crews construct temporary bypass lanes along the south side of US 12. Motorists approaching the Highway 12/Highway 25 intersection must slow down, be prepared to stop and obey the flaggers.
- July 14 through mid-August – All lanes of US 12 at Highway 25 will be open and switched to temporary bypass lanes.
- July 14 through early-October – Highway 25 between Montrose and Buffalo will be detoured and fully closed at the Highway 25/US 12 intersection. Motorists traveling between Montrose and Buffalo should follow the signed detour along Wright County Highway 12, or seek alternate routes. All homes and businesses along Highway 25 will remain accessible throughout the closure. Get detour map.
The closures are needed while crews reconstruct the Highway 25/US 12 intersection east of Montrose. When complete, the project will provide safe access onto US 12 with an innovative signal system, new turn lanes, raised medians, overhead lighting and improved drainage. View the layout.
