Strong early season play leads to tournament success
The STMA United travel soccer teams took to the field all over the metro area this past week, finding great success all around. Highlights from week 4 are below.

U8 Girls – Coy (Cheetahs)
The Cheetah’s have found their offense! Despite a grueling four consecutive game stretch this week, the girls were able to find the back of the net six times tripling their season goal total! The team had a lot of fun at the Maplebrook tournament as well, playing hard in all three of their games.

u9 Girls Maroon – Storm (Sherk)
“The Storm” ran the table at this weekend’s MapleBrook Invitational Tournament going a perfect 3-0 against the competition. Not only were they scoring in bunches, but playing solid defense as well. The Sunday finale featured a masterful GK performance by Jenna A. who stopped 11 shots en route to a 4-0 win over Monticello. Holland K. also showcased a lethal shot, accounting for all 4 goals scored in that game. All in all, the girls played great as a team, and represented themselves and STMA United very well.
u9 Girls Gold – Blue Rain (Tourville)
The u9 girls Blue Rain team coached by TJ Tourville, had a great showing at the Maplebrook tournament. The team scored a total of 8 goals during the tournament while only allowing 3. The outburst of goals allowed the team to finish their tournament atop their bracket.

u10 Girls Maroon – Dorland
It was a very good week for the U10 Maroon girls team coached by Tim Dorland and Eric Braun. The team traveled to Waconia for league play and came away with 3 goals for their efforts. Scoring for the u10’s were Mackenzie, Ani and Zaya.
In game 2 of the week, Waconia had to make the drive to play in STMA. The teams were tied 3-3 in the second half, than Emily Z. had a great shot over the goalie’s head for the game winner with seconds left. Maggie had the first two goals and Hannah K had one goal.
The girls also wore their pink socks for breast cancer this week!
u11 Girls C2 – Sustacek
Last week the U-11 Girls Sustacek team played a great game against Central Minnesota to earn a 4-0 victory! Jenna J scored 3 goals and Emma D had 1. Assisting those goals were Casey F with 2, and Chloe F and Cora W. The defense along with Brenna M at goalkeeper played a solid game and kept the opponent from scoring.

u12 Girls c1 – Jenniges
The u12 girls c1 team had a fantastic weekend of soccer at the Maplebrook tournament. The girls advanced to the championship match vs Minneapolis United and ended up bringing home the title in a dramatic shootout!

u12 Girls c2 – Sime
The girls U12 C2 team had a great weekend at the Lakes United Tournament, taking first place and posting shutouts in all three of their games, winning 4-0, 2-0 and 2-0. The Lady Knights put on an impressive team defensive display and dominated possession of the ball throughout the tournament.
Not satisfied with just the tournament championship, the girls also took first place in the team penalty shootout competition. The girls prevailed in an epic finale that went to extra shooters, when on the 11th shot of sudden death play, Jessica I. slotted home the winner just out of reach of the keeper into the corner of the net.

u13 Girls C1 – Durruty
The u13 Girls C1 team, coached by Francisco Durruty, had a fantastic run at the Maplebrook tournament this weekend. The u13’s faced off against Maplebrook #2 in game 1 and came out with a 2-1 victory. Game two saw the girls beat TRSA 6-2 with game 3 being a draw, 1-1, vs TC Storm.
The u13’s strong play helped them qualify for the championship match-up vs Maplebrook’s #1 team. The girls played hard but lost 2-0, coming in 2nd for the tournament.

u14 Girls C1 – McLachlan
The u14’s found great success at the Elite Challenge Cup this past weekend. The girls played hard all weekend and eventually found their way to the championship match against Dakota Alliance. The u14’s played extremely well in the title bout and came away with a 2-0 victory, securing the Championship in the process.
