A solar eruption causing a massive magnetic storm last night over the North Pole brought skies to life, as the Aurora Borealis – “Northern Lights” – made their way down into North America as far south as Kansas and Oklahoma.
Here in Wright County, several photographers grabbed their lenses, or iPhones, and took to the the skies after 10:30 p.m. The lights were most vibrant, most said, shortly before midnight on Monday, June 22.
There is a chance for another show tonight, should the storm continue to push southward. Last night was, however, probably the peak of the show.
Here are a few photos, including two by local photographer Jeff Grotte of Otsego, who has captured Albertville Friendly City Days from above via one of his drones, taken last night.
