Kathleen Massmann has made her business home in Monticello now for more than four years, and she’s now finding her niche in northern Wright County with Healing Moments Counseling, as the benefits of mental health – along with physical health – continues to come to the forefront.

“It’s definitely gaining in awareness, and the big thing is removing some of that stigma that surrounds counseling,” Massmann said of mental health practices. “Getting the word out about what practices like ours and others in the area have available to people is one thing. The other is just letting people know that counseling isn’t a bad thing. It’s a healthy thing.”
Massmann likens it to visiting the eye doctor or dentist; mental health is not something you would just let slip away like vision, or crumble like your back molars.
“There are so many different specialties and areas for people to get help if they need it, and all services are confidential. But we can help anyone from age four and up, couples, those dealing with a loss, or recovering from abuse or trauma,” Massmann said.
With the location at 9766 Fallon Avenue in Monticello, Healing Moments takes clients from Monticello, Buffalo, Big Lake and the nearby township areas. Massmann said her associates – there are five other licensed therapists on site – take patients from as far away as Clearwater and Elk River.
Some of the techniques used at Healing Moments are play therapy, equine (horse) therapy, solution-focused therapy, guided imagery, career counseling/coaching, holistic psychotherapy and more.
“Almost all of us have slightly different specialties, so we can certainly match people up with the right therapy provider,” she said.
Kathleen and her family are very involved in the St. Michael area, too. Massmann’s children attend St. Michael Catholic School, and she truly “loves the community” it provides both students and parents there.
