A pair of community events are aimed at the young, and the elder population in the St. Michael-Albertville area today, as Thursday features both the St. Michael-Albertville-Hanover Senior Center Expo this morning, and the Albertville Primary School’s Kindergarten Open House later this afternoon.
Senior Expo
The Senior Center’s Annual Expo kicks off at 9 a.m. this morning at the St. Michael City Center in the council room. Vendors from around the area will be on hand, including both senior communities from St. Michael and Albertville – The Legacy at St. Michael and Guardian Angels’ Engel Haus in Albertville. Medical advice, financial assistance, local resources and more will be on hand.
Educational classes will also be offered in several of the rooms around the St. Michael City Center, as well as craft and expo items to purchase offered by members of the senior center.
For lunch, pizza will be offered for $2 per slice.
Trailblazers Transit will be offering free rides for seniors in the area who need to get to the expo, which ends at 1 p.m. this afternoon.
Kindergarten Open House
The Class of 2028 can get its first look at a “real school” tonight, as the Albertville Primary School opens its doors to those who will call it home for the 2015-2016 school year.
Kids can get a look at the classrooms, media center, music room and gym inside the school. A school bus, courtesy of Don’s, will be on site and kids who are planning to ride the bus next year can learn about bus safety and what their ride might look like next fall.
Ice cream will also be served in the gym for kids.
Registration is now open for the 2015-2016 year, and the AP staff encourages parents to do so early. School sign up can be done online via the school district website, and in person at the school.
