Cub Scouts from St. Michael, Albertville and Hanover will be hitting the streets again Saturday, April 25 as they collect food for the Hanover Food Shelf over the weekend.
Scouts will collect non-perishable items, including boxed meals, cereals, canned goods and more from residences and neighborhoods.
Residents can leave bags and boxes out on their front porch for the Scouts, who will pick up and make the delivery to the food shelf in Hanover.
It’s an important time for donations, said Helen Skutley, director of the food shelf, because summer means the need will be greater.
“With kids at home throughout the summer months the use climbs, but it’s a slower time for donations,” Skutley said. “We get a big surge during the holidays, but it’s really the summer that can be hardest on families, when the kids are home from class and don’t get that lunch at the school buildings.”
