The St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club is pleased to announce that St. Michael-Albertville High School juniors McKenna Rogers, Emily Waller and Michael Wettschreck have been named students of the month for March.
McKenna is the daughter of Russ and Lori Rogers of St. Michael. She is on the A Honor Roll and has many awards and accomplishments including Student of the Trimester, three Academic letters and six academic all-conference letters. She also has lettered multiple times in cross-country and track, received the cross-country most improved award in 2012 and the 2014 coach’s award for cross-country. She is a three-time state tournament participant in cross-country, is the cross-country captain, and is involved in basketball, track and field, National Honor Society, Freshman Connections, Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader, Captains Council, Catalyst, band, student council, youth group, and choir. She plans to attend college.
Emily is the daughter of Ken Waller and Priscilla Starr of St. Michael. She is on the A Honor Roll and is first in her class. She manages girls’ and boys’ swimming, is active in track and field and National Honor Society, and is a People to People Student Ambassador. She plans to pursue an MBA at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.
Michael is the son of Keith and Theresa Wettschreck of St. Michael. He has received numerous awards in mock trial, speech, debate and Congress. He made Mock Trial Varsity as a sophomore and placed fifth in state last year and made state again this year. He won the Mineapple Debate Tournament, and has won awards in almost every speech tournament this year, including first place twice. He has been accepted into the National Honor Society. He is the co-chair (next year chair) of a toy drive and advertising. He also works at McDonald’s and teaches at Church Bible Camp. He plans to go to medical school to become a doctor.

The STMA Rotary Club honors students of the month during each month of the school year. The awards are given during the students’ junior year so they may include them on college applications and scholarship forms. Rotary Students of the Month are selected by STMA’s home room teachers. Rotary Students of the Month must demonstrate an interest in their community, have personal accomplishments or achievements, show respect to themselves andothers, show a passion for “Service Above Self” and must be drug/alcohol free and cannot have committed a crime.
