Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend an open house Wednesday, March 25, to learn plans for the final year of construction on a project that will improve Interstate 94 between Rogers and St. Michael in 2015.
The open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. at St. Michael City Hall, 11800 Town Center Dr. NE.
The I-94 Rogers to St. Michael improvements project will include several major traffic changes, including reconfigured ramps and closing one side of the roadway while the other side is reconstructed.
City leaders, including staff and members of the St. Michael City Council, have voiced concerns in past meetings about the ramps and the intersection with the northwestern side of Highway 241/County Road 36, heading toward Fox Hollow Golf Course.
Trucks will be using that portion of the road to bring in fill for the construction, and the intersection is a tough one to navigate for drivers as currently designed.
When complete, the project will add one westbound general purpose lane and one eastbound auxiliary lane to I-94 between Highway 101 in Rogers and Highway 241 in St. Michael; extend the deceleration lane from westbound I-94 to Highway 101; and make other improvements while lanes are closed for construction.
Those attending the public meeting will be able to view displays, learn how the project may affect their travel, take home project handouts, provide comments and get questions answered directly from MnDOT staff, contractor representatives and other project officials.
For more information about the project, visit the I-94 project page on the MnDOT website.
