More than 200 athletes squared off in the 2015 Minnesota State Taekwondo Championship, held earlier this monthat Osseo Junior High School.
The event, sponsored by the Minnesota Taekwondo Association, is state’s qualifying event for the 2015 USA Taekwondo Junior and Senior Nationals in July.
The Minnesota championship event featured competition in Poomsae (Taekwondo forms), demonstration teams, sparring and a variety of team and pair competitions.
Competitors come from across the state to compete in this event and range from 5 years of age to the senior level of 50+. Local competitors from the World Taekwondo Academy in both Rogers and St. Michael had 22 competitors competing in this years tournament, with a grand total of 19 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and 5 Bronze medals.
