Christians around the world are marking the beginning of the Lenten season today as they celebrate Ash Wednesday with church services, soup suppers and family gatherings.

Life in Christ Lutheran Church: Soup Supper at 6 p.m., followed by services at 7 p.m.
Hanover
Salem Lutheran Church: Soup and sandwich supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m., worship services at 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church: Meal at 6 p.m., worship services at both 5:30 and 7 p.m.
St. Michael
Connect Church: Family night beginning at 5;45 p.m. St. Michael Catholic Church: Services at 5 and 7 p.m.
