One man is dead and another is being investigated after a crash proved fatal in Middleville Township, west of Buffalo, early Monday, Nov. 3.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 2:45 a.m. the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a call of a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of 40th Street Southwest and Wright County Road 7 north.
Upon arrival deputies found an unoccupied Toyota Sequoia in the south ditch of 40th Street Southwest.
Further investigation resulted in the discovery that the driver and lone occupant, Keotavanh Saengchanthalath age 32 of St Cloud, was transported by a private party to the St Cloud Hospital where he was declared deceased.
The accident is under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. The department is trying to determine whether or not a crime was committed when the dying man was transported to the hospital, or prior to the crash. No comment is being made beyond that at this time, Capt. Todd Hoffman told media outlets on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
There is a history of the family having run-ins with the law. Preston Saengchanthalath was wanted in 2013 in connection to a shooting death of an Annandale man, which resulted in the arrest of St. Michael resident Gray Soltis.
Thomas Kevin Saengchanthalath, 19, of Albertville was arrested in Albertville Oct. 2, 2013 on the charge of aid/abet robbery.
Keotavanh Saengchanthalath, of St. Cloud was arrested in 2013 as well, in Stearns County on a Wright County warrant for trespassing.
