A 31-year-old Monticello woman is dead after she lost control of her vehicle while attempting to merge onto Interstate 94 eastbound and crashed on the icy onramp at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13.
Renne Hallberg was alone, driving her 2003 Oldsmobile Alero when, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report, she lost control on the Minnesota Highway onramp to eastbound Interstate 94, which was snowy and icy at the time. Her car slid off the right side, and then Hallberg corrected, but lost control and veered left. She hit the guardrail and, eventually, an overpass pillar before the badly damaged car came to rest on the right side of the ramp again.
Passers-by called 911, but emergency workers declared Hallberg dead at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by members of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, St. Cloud Police, St. Cloud Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance on the call.
The investigation into the single car accident has been determined complete, the state patrol said.
