A quartet of young St. Michael-Albertville hockey standouts were able to shine late last month at the YHH PeeWee Challenge at Bloomington Ice Garden.
Mackenzie Bourgerie and Anna Larose of the North Wright County RiverHawks, along with Luc Layln and Addam Flammang or the STMA Knights youth program, were each recognized for their play at the tournament, which was held the weekend of Sept. 20.
Mackenzie earned Player of the Game for her two goals in the play-in round, earning a nod from the Youth Hockey Hub website. She also earned a “lotsa motza” pizza for her efforts.
Lalyn and Flammang were each recognized as “Players to Watch” or “new to the radar” players for YHH for what the site called “eyebrow-raising” play.
Larose, meanwhile, was lauded as one of the tournament’s top goalies for her team, and showed up with a shutout during the tournament play.
Pee-Wee hockey for the 2014-2015 season, which features mostly 12-year-olds, is ramping up now in STMA. More information on the program can be found online at STMAHockey.org.
