Wright County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Train Tracks Accident

October 2, 2014 By Mike Schoemer

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an injury accident involving a man walking along the railroad bridge in Middleville Township, near Cokato, or about 15 miles southwest of Buffalo.

Sheriff Joe Hagerty reports the Wright County Dispatch was contacted at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct, 1, about a trespasser on the railroad tracks near Wright County Road 5 and 51st St Southwest in Middleville Township.

WCSO BADGE_1Burlington Northern Santé Fe officials advised that a train crew had observed a male party wearing dark clothing walking eastbound on the tracks as one of their trains passed by.

The trespasser, identified as Kyle McAllister, 26, Dassel, was found near Oliver Ave Southwest and Wright County Road 4, where it appeared that he had fallen from the railroad bridge.

McAllister was transported by Cokato Ambulance to North Memorial Hospital and was listed in critical condition.

It has not been verified whether or not McAllister was struck by the train. The incident is currently under investigation by sheriff’s office personnel and the Burlington Northern Santé Fe railroad.
