Tyler Berg’s leaping catch of a Jackson Greenwaldt pass is up for the KARE 11/USA Today Regional Play of the Week for the week of Oct. 20.
Watch: Tyler Berg’s catch, set up by quarterback Jackson Greenwaldt’s clever scramble
Berg’s grab, which kept the Knights’ game-winning drive alive, was just one of two key late catches by No. 47. Berg also grabbed the game-winning 2-point conversion, giving STMA the win over the N0. 2-ranked Roger Royals and the No. 1 seed in the Section 6-5A playoffs, which begin tonight at Rogers and Monticello.
The Magic host Buffalo at 7 p.m. tonight at the middle school in Monti. The winner will advance to the semifinal to play STMA on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the STMA Middle School West field in Albertville.
Rogers, meanwhile, will host Willmar, the lowest seed in the section. Should the Royals win, they’ll travel to top-ranked (statewide) 5A team Elk River, who was relegated to the No. 2 seed because the Elks didn’t play a section opponent during the regular season.
That game will also be held Saturday afternoon.
The two semifinal winners will square off at 7 p.m. Halloween night at the higher seed’s home field with a bid in the state tournament on the line.
