According to scanner audio obtained by Police Clips, a website dedicated to tracking police activity, the chase occurred shortly before 2 p.m., with officers intercepting a black/grey Dodge Charger, the same vehicle described by Wright County officials in the Albertville robbery, on Interstate 694 near U.S. Highway 169. Hennepin County officers, along with Maple Grove Police and Minnesota State Patrol, followed the car on a chase at mid-range speeds down the freeway toward the Minneapolis interchange of Lyndale/East River Road and Interstate 94.
The suspect exited the freeway and lost the closest officer in the area of 53rd and Lyndale, according to the scanner recording. Officers eventually found the vehicle, but did not find the suspect after an extensive search with patrol, K-9 units and investigators. One officer on the scanner said he believed the suspect had robbed some convenience stores and fast food places in the New Hope and Crystal area in the past.
More on the search for the suspect will be shared when made available to North Wright County Today.
