Otsego rings in fall this Saturday with its own city celebration, The Otsego Prairie Festival and Car Show, set to roll from 10 a.m. to dusk Saturday, Sept. 13 at Prairie Park (90th Street and Nashua Avenue Northeast).
The event will begin with a flag raising ceremony at 10 a.m. sharp, followed by the opening of the festival with some special announcements.
The Otsego Rod and Custom Car Show will take shape around 10 a.m. as well, with entrants in several different classes around the park. The show runs until 2 p.m. when trophies are awarded.
The festival includes one of the community’s largest business expositions, with dozens of shops, organizations, home-based businesses and community groups showing their wares and handing out everything from keychains to candy. Lowe’s will be on hand with a workshop area, while the Lions will have both a corn stand and beer garden for the adults.
For the kids, the annual paintball area and petting zoo, along with a galley of inflatables, is sure to be an attraction.
On stage, the Dancing Caravan will have presentations starting at both 10 a.m. and noon. Both shows are about 45 minutes. The Naked Cowboys take over at 2 p.m. with a two and half hour set of live music, followed by Outside Recess from 5 t0 8:30 p.m. to headline the evening entertainment.
Then, the skies over western Otsego will light up, as the annual fall fireworks display kicks off around 8:30 p.m. (dusk). The fireworks will be shot off west of Prairie Park, so set up on the sledding hill or elsewhere on the grounds to enjoy the display.
