A man looking to enjoy a Saturday evening fishing has died this weekend after he fell off a pier and into the waters of Dog Lake, south of Waverly, Minnesota.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is withholding the name of the man, who was believed to be in his 50s or 60s, until family members are contacted.
According to a release issued by the WCSO, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a call shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, about a possible drowning at the Dog Lake public access in Woodland Township.
The caller reported that a male party in his mid 50s had been fishing off the dock located at the public access when he apparently fell into the water. The man appeared to be struggling, went under the water, and subsequently did not surface, the caller stated.
Members of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Recreational Services Unit responded to assist in the search. At approximately 7:45 p.m. Saturday, the body of the deceased male party was found in six to 10 feet of water.
