UPDATE (12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19) Wright County has released this official summary report of the incident in Albertville Sunday, Aug. 17:
Sheriff JoeHagerty reports that on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at approximately 1:30am the Wright County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a call requesting that officers check the welfare of a male party that was in route to a residence on the 10000 block of 64th St NE in the City of Albertville. Upon arrival deputies did find the person’s vehicle parked at this residence. It should be noted that this party did not currently reside at the residence, but was known to the homeowner.
Deputies were unable to make contact with this male party, but did speak with the homeowner who advised that they were out of town for the weekend.
Numerous attempts were made to contact the male party inside the residence. At approximately 5:20pm members of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team located the male in the basement of the residence. The male was found to be deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
Members of the Hennepin County Emergency Response Team assisted on the search of the residence.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time to allow for family members to be notified.
UPDATE (9:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17): Multiple media outlets have confirmation via the Wright County Sheriff’s Office stating the man who had holed up in the Albertville residence near the intersection of 64th Avenue Northeast and Karston Avenue Northeast was deceased.
The incident is still under investigation.
UPDATE (3:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17): The Wright County Sheriff’s Department has issued the following statement:
At 1:30 am Sunday, Aug. 17, Wright County Communications received a report of a suicidal male who may be en route to an address in Albertville. Deputies arrived at the address and located the male’s car in the driveway and observed damage to the overhead garage door. The resident of the address was not home at the time. Attempts to make contact with the male have been unsuccessful. It is believed the male is armed with a firearm and precautions are being used during this on-going criminal investigation.
UPDATE (12:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17): Witnesses from the neighborhood have told North Wright County Today the incident started late Saturday night and into Sunday morning when an ex-husband or ex-boyfriend (unclear) confronted a resident in the Winter Park neighborhood along Karston Avenue and 64th Street.
The standoff started shortly after (around 1:30 a.m.), and the male threatened people in the neighborhood that he is armed and will shoot if they attempt to approach the house, one witness, who asked not to be named, said.

In a developing story Sunday, Aug. 17, Wright County Sheriff’s Office deputies and SWAT officers from the northwest metro have surrounded a home in western Albertville.
There is no word, at this time, what the standoff is about or what’s happening inside, but residents are being asked to stay clear of the area if they should come upon it.
