The Wright County Area United Way (WCAUW) recently donated $5,000 to support St. Michael Fire Department’s purchase of Jaws of Life rescue equipment.
This life-saving extraction instrument is used to help save lives during motor vehicle rescues.
The contribution was designated during the WCAUW’s annual allocation meeting in May, where an additional 72 programs in St. Michael, Albertville, Buffalo and Monticello were also supported through donated funds.
“We are very happy to support St. Michael Fire Department’s Jaws of Life,” said Karla Heeter, President of the Wright County Area United Way Board of Directors. “Unfortunately, crashes happen every day, and this is a life-saving device for someone who is in a serious motor vehicle incident. Our community benefits greatly by having this state-of-the-art rescue equipment readily available. This donation to the St. Michael Fire Department demonstrates our commitment to our generous donors and our dedication to supporting essential programs which benefit our communities.”
