STMA teams pick up multiple wins during week 5 of the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) season. Highlights are below.
U10 Girls Gold Williams: The u10 girls team played in the Minnetonka Splash tournament over the weekend and played very well. The girls tied their first game of the tournament 2-2 against Chaska/Chanhassen. In game 2, the team took on Wright County and thanks to some superb goaltending by Ashlyn H, came away with a victory 3-0. The third and final game of the weekend saw a 2nd shutout for the u10’s as Ava L manned the net in the 2-0 victory over Tonka United.
This week’s team awards went to Maddie, Allie, Ashlyn and Ava for their hard work during the tournament. The team is now 3-4-2 on the year.
U12 Boys C2 Lindstrom:The U12 Boys tied the league leading Minnesota Thunder Academy last Wednesday coming away with their 2nd tie against MTA. Goals for STMA came from Dan P, Braden S, and Evan H who tied the game with a long blast with 2 minutes to play. Not to be outdone, Tom B had an excellent game in goal and kept the u12’s in the game.
The u12’s are now 3-2-2 on the season and currently in 2nd place in the west district.
U15 Boys C2 Baldwin: The u15’s continued to roll through the competition this past week, notching 2 more victories on the year. In game one of the week, STMA held MapleBrook to one shot on net the entire game. . The first goal by Jonah H came from a cross that found him all alone on the back door of the goal box. He controlled the ball and drove it in the upper corner of the net . Goal #2 was scored by Tanner Son in the second half on a shot that came from the outside corner of the penalty box. Tanners shot bounced off of a when Maplebrook defender in the goal box and deflected into the net. STMA controlled the ball possession for the rest of the game by winning most of the battles at midfield and shutting their offence down on defense. STMA won 2-0.
In Game 2 on the week, the boys took on WestTonka and didn’t allow a shot on net the entire game. The u15’s scored the first goal of the game 90 seconds into the contest and would add 5 more for good measure. Scoring for STMA were Noah H (2), Isaiah S (2) and Tanner Son (2). The 6-0 victory runs the u15’s record to 12-0-1 on the season and keeps them firmly planted in first place in their district.
