The seventh annual celebration of the Chad Smith Ride for Life is set for Saturday, June 21, beginning and ending at Ditto’s Bar in St. Michael.
This year’s ride will benefit the family of Scott Klinkhammer, who has been battling cancer for the past three years.
In 2011, Scott was diagnosed with Colon cancer and in December of 2012 the cancer had metastasized to his lungs. Scott has had to undergo multiple treatments of chemo, radiation and surgeries, which has put a huge stress on this family’s finances.
Scott has updated a few times on the Ride For Life Facebook page since being name this year’s beneficiaries. After a long treatment, he’s currently clear of cancer, but knows the battle isn’t over.
Wendy Jorgensen, along with Toby and Jennifer Berning, have been putting on the ride in memory of Chad Smith, who lost his battle with cancer months after the first-ever Ride for Life, and using proceeds to benefit local families.
Rides for kids have been the theme for the past three or four years, with proceeds going to Luke Letellier’s family, the family of Maddy Smith. Devon Knapp and others.
“Really, it’s any family who’s had to face this kind of fight,” Toby said. “We know how it can just tear up a family and put them through something that they never thought they would have to face. So it’s a way to give back and a way to keep Chad’s memory going, too.”

Please let them know that a TAX ID # is available for their donations. Some ideas are: Theme Baskets, Gift Certificates, Wood Work Items, Signs, Electronics, Car/Motorcycle Care Items, Sporting Event Tickets, Autographed Items, ETC.
