As an event, the Chad Smith Ride for Life has now, officially, become one of the biggest in Wright County each summer.
This year alone, more than 325 bikes (unofficially) raced around Wright County, including stops in Silver Creek Township and, of course, beginning and ending in St. Michael, with hundreds of others on buses and in cars to support a fundraiser that has now helped several families in the STMA area.
This year, the benefactors were Scott and Lisa Klinkhammer and family. Scott has rebounded, amazingly, from a three-year battle with colon and lung cancer, but his family racked up a lot of medical bills in that more than 1,000-day fight, which included rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, scans and more expensive procedures, as well as medication and therapy.
