The I-94 West Chamber of Commerce announced the thirteen First Responders Award Recipients, including several from the north Wright County area, to be honored at the inaugural award luncheon Monday, May 19, 2014.
The First Responders Luncheon was created to honor and recognize police officers, fire fighters, EMS personnel, and other individuals in the I-94 West region that have provided exceptional response in an emergency situation.
The First Responders Luncheon will feature a keynote address from Mona Dohman, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, and will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Rogers Community Room, 21201 Memorial Drive, Rogers. At the event, the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce will recognize recipients of the First Responders Awards for the cities of Albertville, Corcoran, Dayton, Hamel, Hanover, Loretto, Medina, Otsego, Rogers, and St. Michael.
“We’re extremely excited to bring our communities and businesses together to recognize the First Responders who work hard day in and day out to protect and serve the I-94 West region,” said Rhonda Baack, President of the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce. “The thirteen Award Recipients are very deserving of this honor and we’re thrilled by the positive response we’ve received from our business community, public safety offices and departments, civic leaders, regional legislators, state dignitaries, and the general public.”
The first-ever Award Recipients are:
City of Albertville: Josh Eull, Captain, Albertville Fire Department
City of Corcoran: Dan Drake, Officer, Corcoran Police Department; Kevin Wagman, Officer, Corcoran Police Department
City of Dayton: Erik Anderly, Officer, Dayton Police Department
City of Hamel: Ryan Gregor, Lieutenant, Hamel Volunteer Fire Department
City of Hanover: Brian Gronsberg, Firefighter/EMT, Hanover Fire Department
City of Loretto: Terry Ryan, Captain 1, Loretto Fire Department
City of Medina: Kevin Boecker, Officer, Medina Police Department
City of Otsego: Melissa Meemken, Deputy, Wright County Sheriff’s Office
City of Rogers: Jeffrey Beahen, Chief of Police, Rogers Police Department; Roger Sabot, Firefighter/EMT, Rogers Fire Department; Stephen Sarazin, Sergeant, Rogers Police Department
City of St. Michael: Eric Kunkel, Sergeant, Wright County Sheriff’s Office
Half of the event’s net proceeds will benefit two charitable organizations, the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association and the Minnesota Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial Association. The event is held in partnership with Memorial Blood Centers and the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, scheduled for late summer.
