The precipitation forecast to hit the area Wednesday never fell as rain, instead immediately coming down as snow when skies opened around 9 a.m.
Because of that, snowfall amounts should rise to 5 inches or more here in the North Wright County area by early Thursday morning.
Traffic was already moving at a slow pace on the northwest side of the Metro Wednesday. However, the Minnetonka area had seen just a dusting by noon.
Stay tuned for updates this afternoon.
