From first through fourth grade, reading is an essential part of the daily curriculum at Big Woods Elementary School, as it is at the other two elementary buildings in the St. Michael-Albertville School District.
Nearly every school day, volunteers assist with the curriculum, working with students in the hallways, making sure boys and girls are progressing with their reading skills.
Each week, some of those volunteers include members of the Legacy of St. Michael senior community. The relationship, on display today at Big Woods, shows a special bond between some of the community’s oldest and youngest treasures.
