When the weather starts to warm up, the weekends get a little bit more action-packed, and this weekend is no exception around the North Wright County Today coverage area.
Here’s a handful of events you might well want to pencil in on your calendar.
St. Michael-Albertville High School Prom 2014
St. Michael-Albertville High School will host its annual Prom Night Saturday, April 26, with Grand March at the high school gymnasium and the prom dance at the Lafayette Club on Lake Minnetonka.
Grand March will be held at 4 p.m. Students should be on site in the STMA Activity Center prior to 3;40 p.m., when couples will be lined up according to their number.
Those attending Grand March should arrive at the high school gym early. Cost is $1, with proceeds being used toward next year’s prom.
The Prom Dance will begin at 9 p.m. at the Lafayette Club, located at 2800 Northview Road, Minnetonka Beach, MN, with a DJ, appetizers and beverages served at the dance.
Disney Cinderella for Kids, Presented by Front Porch Musical Theater
The Front Porch Musical Theater group will present three showings of “Cinderella for Kids” this weekend at the St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West auditorium.
Shows are set for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday by Cast 1, 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday by Cast 2 and 3 and 6:30 p.m. by Cast 3.
All tickets are general admission and cost just $5 at the door. Kids 2 and under are free. Children are invited to come to the show dressed up in their favorite fairytale costume!. Parents will have a chance after the show to take their child’s photo with Cinderella or other cast members.
Sixth Annual Beebe Lake Beer and Wine Tasting Fundraiser
The Beebe Lake Improvement Association will be hosting its sixth annual fundraiser, featuring wines and beers from Cash Wise Liquors, at the St. Michael City Center this Saturday night.
The event runs from 7 to 9 p.m., and will feature light appetizers and a silent auction.
Cost is $25 per person, and tickets are available at the door at Cash Wise Liquor prior to the event.
Funds raised are used to provide supplemental walleye stocking on the lake, manage invasive aquatic species and improve lake water quality.

Buffalo Figure Skating Club Spring Show
Go “Skating Around the World” with the Buffalo Figure Skating Club as they present their spring performance. The event takes the ice at the Buffalo Civic Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. An open skate from 3;30 to 4;30 p.m. will be held following the show. Admission is $5, and skate rental will be available.
Monticello Lions Annual Fishermens’ Fun Night
The ice is off (mostly) and the opener is around the corner. Celebrate the upcoming fishing season with the Lions at River City Extreme, 3875 School Boulevard, Monticello. Cost is 20 bucks, and details can be found on the Monticello Lions website.
