Wright County and fellow Sixth District Republicans voter overwhelmingly in favor of making Tom Emmer, the former Republican talk show host, conservative candidate of governor and Minnesota State House Representative from Delano, their next representative in the United States Congress.

Emmer earned the party’s full nomination Saturday around 12:15 p.m. with 76 percent of the more than 300 delegates from the Sixth District present to cast their vote. Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah received the remainder, as candidate Phil Krinkie decided not to participate in the convention this weekend.
Former Wright County Sen. Amy Koch, the one-time Senate Majority Leader from Minnesota, live-tweeted the event and said Bachmann was set to cut a “max check” to support the Emmer campaign for House, and hoped fellow Republicans would join her.
Bachmann was a “guest of honor” for the weekend’s proceedings. A two-hour program held Friday night, before Saturday’s three-hour convention, honored her work in the United State House on behalf of the Sixth District.
Emmer, who also won the February GOP Caucuses, will likely face off with Krinkie in a fall primary, provided the former state representative and former president of the Minnesota Taxpayers League Krinkie stays on the GOP ticket. There are rumors he’s considering a third-party endorsement.
