Registration is now open for both St. Michael-Albertville Football Academy’s Spring Camp and 7-on-7 passing league for this spring and summer.
Dates for spring camp, which is for first to eighth-graders, are each Saturday from April 26 through May 31 (not including Memorial Day Weekend). Time slots are from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for first through third-graders, and 10;30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for fourth through eighth-graders at St. Michael Middle School East (just east of the school).
The camp covers the fundamentals for future football players, including training, drills, games and fun. The 75-minute session includes instruction and motivation for each player. Cost is just $49, and all campers get a t-shirt.
In the past three years, the camp has welcomed several guests, including Toby Gerhart of the Jacksonville Jaguars (formerly of the Vikings), NFL great Tommy Kramer and standouts from the University of Minnesota and FCS Champion North Dakota State University.
Registration is also open now for the STMA Football Academy 7-on-7 passing league, also designed for first-through-eighth-graders. Dates are June 9 through 14 at Middle School West, and evaluations for the passing league will be held for players who participate in the spring camp.
Cost is just $39, and players in the passing league also get a shirt.
Organizers and STMA Football Academy head Tim Roberts said they’re looking to extend the summer league through Jun3 23 with some head-to-head competition vs. Lakeville’s football academy.
Passing league brings the fundamentals into actual play, where kids line-up, run passing routes and work on execution.
For those interested in either camp, registration is available via the STMA Football Academy’s website. Registration for the spring camp is closing soon, on April 5.
Registration for 7-on-7 runs through May.
