Buffalo Police Respond to Walmart Bomb Threat

March 24, 2014 By Mike Schoemer

Buffalo Police were called the Walmart store at 1315 Highway 25 around 7:50 p.m. last night after workers there received a bomb threat from an unidentified male.

According to scanner chatter released by Police Clips of Minnesota, Wright County Dispatch received the call around 7:50 p.m. and paged units from BPD to the store shortly before 8 p.m.

BuffaloPDOfficers were told the caller was a male with a “younger” voice, who stated a bomb had been placed in the store near the men’s department and the “bike rack.” It’s not clear if the caller was referring to multiple bombs.

As a precaution, the Walmart store was completely evacuated before 8 p.m. Temperatures were well below freezing and workers were asked to leave items in the store while it was searched.

The area was cleared after a search and employees and shoppers were let back into the building Sunday night.

Dispatchers said the call had come “from a 612 [area code] number” but couldn’t trace more information via the store’s caller ID system.

The incident is still under investigation.
