UPDATE (11 a.m., Monday, July 14) A major, multiple vehicle accident at Minnesota Highway 241 and O’Day Avenue in St. Michael has taken the life of at least one driver and sent another to the hospital via Air Care ambulance Monday, July 14.
UPDATE: The vehicles included a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup and a 2002 Toyota Camry. The Ford, driven by Bruce Plant, 54, of Albertville, broadsided the Camry, which was turning left onto O’Day Avenue from the southbound lane, according to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP). Plant was not injured in the crash. At least one person in the Camry has died, and another was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital.
The names of those in the Camry will be released later today, according to MSP.
Reports from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and MSP state the crash happened shortly before 6:45 a.m. this morning.
First responders from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, St. Michael Fire and Rescue and the Albertville Fire Department were on scene this morning.
Traffic was re-routed to westbound Highway 241, back through St. Michael and Albertville, allowing cars to access the interstate at County Road 37.
