Another week is in the books for the old FCKL and we have a new leader atop the board. Here’s how last night’s action panned out.
The MFers brought their kicking boots last night as they hung a dozen runs in their first game against Ballz N Knockers, highlighted with a Rodney Gattis (the Martin Farms Legend) lead off home run in the first inning.
A back-and-forth knockout bout saw the Brews on First pull away in the later innings with a 10-4 victory over defending champs Kickin’ It Old School.
Ballz N Knockers developed some serious shtick by throwing a challenge flag on every call in the second game against Brews on First. Note to the Knockers, there are no challenge flags in the FCKL and some of those calls were in your favor. Brews win by a score of 6-2.
Kickin’ it Old School bounced back with a 5-2 victory over the MFers. This victory comes after KIOS teammates were able to loosen up with a little bit of Jason’s strikeout beer from last week.
The Funk You Pitches edged out the previously unbeaten Alcoballics with a 2-0 victory. I’m sure the defense was mesmerizing.
The re-tooled Sons of Pitches hung tight in their first game, taking the Grass Kickers to a 0-0 tie through four innings. The GK feet got it going late, and led by a 4-4 performance by Big Lake’s own Jodi Salley, they edged SoP 4-0.
Brent Funk knocked in two with this triple (see photo) and the Funk You Pitches notched a two victory night with a win over SoP.
In the late game, the Alcoballics took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but a three-run rally to tie and a game-winning RKI from rookie Eric Murray helped the Grass Kickers to a 5-4 victory. The play of the game may have been the game-ending strikeout of Alex Lee by Rogers-native Jen Hansen.
Next week the action just keeps coming as Tuesday night will bring the neighborhood clash of 53rd Street as Funk You Pitches faces off against Brews on First at 6:00pm. It should be a barn burner.
